There are smart watches that cost around $400 like the Apple Watch and the Samsung Galaxy Ultra for $469. But do you get more for your money?
Not necessarily. Price can be driven by demand and not quality or performance. When demand is high, so is price.
There are many really good smart watches for under $200 and some around $150.
These are my personal favorites smart watches. I own each one of these and have used them for 3-4 weeks. I recommend all of these and I own all of these and use them.

Kospet is a Chinese company founded in 2018. The specialize in outdoor rugged smart watches. The quality is excellent and they are tested to prove the quality.
Here is a tip regarding quality....MIL-STD-810H. This is a military certification and consists of 15 extreme tests. If a smart watch meets this certification, it's pretty darn good to say the least. It doesn't get any better than this.
